Starting from July 1st this year, LED light bulbs and LED light fixtures sold in the Japanese market must be affixed with a circular Product Safety Mark (PSE).

Recently, new barriers have been added to the sales of LED bulbs and LED lighting fixtures in the Japanese market. The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan issued a notice in April this year, requiring LED bulbs and LED light fixtures sold in the Japanese market to be affixed with a circular Product Safety Mark (PSE) starting from July 1st of this year. PSE is a Japanese product safety mark, and according to Japan's DENTORL Law (Electrical Equipment and Material Control Law), 498 products entering the Japanese market must pass safety certification.

This means that "LED light bulbs" and "LED lighting fixtures" have become regulated objects under the Electrical Appliance Safety Law. The scope of control is limited to LED lamps and bulbs using 50Hz and 60Hz AC circuits with a rated voltage of 100V~300V and a rated power greater than 1W.

Japan is the world's largest producer of LED products, and according to statistics, the annual growth rate of the LED market is gradually increasing in the trend of energy conservation.

The upcoming PSE regulations have increased the difficulty of entering the Japanese LED market. According to statistics, 80% of China's LED driver power supply enterprises are concentrated in the Pearl River Delta region. In 2011, Shenzhen exported 1002 batches of electric light sources and lighting products to Japan, with a value of 50.695 million US dollars. The implementation of the PSE mark will inevitably have an impact on the export of related industries in Shenzhen and even China.

In response to the upcoming PSE regulations for LED power supplies entering the Japanese market, Yiguang Technology Company arranged for 12 series of LED power supplies to undergo PSE diamond certification as early as February, actively preparing for export to the Japanese market.
